    Surfer’s Paradise Day 4 & 5

    By Cookies Cream | April 5, 2009

I was very excited when I woke up on the 4th morning in Gold Coast. Why??? Because that’s the day we’ll be visiting Sea World!

    australia_october_2008_10172008_0931-copy.jpg

So there we were at Sea World, the amount of crowd was absolutely scary but we were greeted with lovely weather! ;)

    australia_october_2008_10172008_0938-copy.jpg

After queuing up and purchased ticket, the first stop we visited was the Sea Aquarium.

    australia_october_2008_10172008_0940-copy.jpg

We passed by this donut shop while wakling…The Donut Factory

    australia_october_2008_10172008_0993-copy.jpg

Dolphins at the nursery area…I finally get to see dolphins!!!Look at the baby behind the mummy~ =)

We went to watch the dolphin show~

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1042-copy.jpg

Wondeful dolphin show that actually made me…cried, cause it was touching to see them perform so beautifully!

    We saw Mr. Polar…

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1066-copy.jpg

Shujin loves this polar bear so much that we kept on visit this cutie polar bear…at times it’s resting, then swimming and playing in the water, then eating it’s lunch. It’s very fun!

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1078-copy.jpg

This penguin is so lazy…napping away while others swam and play.

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1154-copy.jpg

We went to watch the show in the Sea World….look at this performer, poor thing to have himself smash into the muddy sand!

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1195-copy.jpg

This funny performer was in the bathtub scrubing away while skating…LOL.

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1300-copy.jpg

The team doing performance while water skating, great job!

    img_2966-copy.jpg

It’s feeding time for the pelicans!!!

    img_2875-copy.jpg

This pelican was standing so near us so we took photos of it, then it saw us and wanted to come over to freak us out!

    img_2877-copy.jpg

Me and Shujin’s favourite, puffer!!! This pair of puffer fish must be coming out for dating and caught by us.. :P

    img_2935-copy.jpg

    Lovely stingray!

    img_2936-copy.jpg

    Shark!

    img_2960-copy.jpg

I think this is a bump head parrot fish??

After the visit in Sea World, we went to have our late lunch. We actually tried finding the shop that I wanted to go and we’re been talking bus and walking for hours but still could not find it. We ended up in Subway. Shujin bought a sandwich while me feeling upset and depressed for not being able to find the shop.

    img_3000-copy.jpg

But after the light lunch Shujin continue to find the shop until we really found it~! Shujin, thank you so much!

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1411-copy.jpg

So here we are at Sushi Train, it’s another recommendation by Precious Pea. Thanks Missy Pea! :)

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1382-copy.jpg

Getting ready while waiting for the food to arrive~

    img_2983-copy.jpg

Some of the chefs there were Japanese. :)

    img_2967-copy.jpg

Some pickles to refresh your taste buds.

    img_2970-copy.jpg

I forgot what maki is this, but it was super tasty with some teriyalki sauce served at the bottom.

    img_2971-copy.jpg

Fried Prawn Sushi was very tasty, especially when it’s topped with the special mayo sauce.

    img_2984-copy.jpg

Fried Chicken Avocado Maki Roll, the big and moist avocado was perfect for any maki. I would prefer the chicken to be replaced with some tender pieces instead of the breast which was quite dry.

    img_2986-copy.jpg

We also ordered Udon with Vegetable Tempura with prawn bites in it. The soup was rather addictive. The vegetable tempura was aromatic and lovely while the udon was okay.

    img_2993-copy.jpg

Fried prawn Maki. The mini cup of sauce was some kind of mild curry mayo sauce, it’s a nice combination to go with the maki I would say.

Overall I find their sushi and maki were all very fresh and appetizing with all the special mayo sauce. I would definitely love to go back there if I could. :)

    img_2860-copy.jpg

We’re back at Surfer’s Paradise and have a walk before heading back to hotel. I saw this Hong Kong style restaurant with roasted duck hanging there, looked pretty interesting.

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1430-copy.jpg

We went for a walk outside near Surfer’s Paradise after some rest and shower at the hotel. There seems to have some shows. This man is actually working as a statue entertainer painted in dark grey. Put a coin in front of him in the box and he will move around doing some actions for you.

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0721-copy.jpg

We decided to have dinner at Billy Baxter’s as this place was fully packed when we passed by the night before.

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1433-copy.jpg

Glass bottled Lipton Ice Lemon Tea, $4.20 per bottle.

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1441-copy.jpg

As we were not super hungry after the late lunch at Sushi Train, we decided to share our meal. After long search on the food menu, we ordered the Lamb Shanks, $23.95. It came in a big shank lay on top of garlic mashed and served with boiled vegetables. I love it very much! The lamb was very tender, tasty, and the smell was awesome. The sauce was absolutely great to go with the aromatic and smooth garlic mash, not to say the boiled vegetables too.

Since it’s the last night in Aussie, we walk around after the dinner.

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0916-copy.jpg

There were actually quite a lot of night clubs around the area.

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0917-copy.jpg

We actually wanted to enter the club to have a look, but were way too tired and it was getting late.

Of course, we could not resist to have a last treat at…

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1452-copy.jpg

Cold Rock that rocked our world!!!

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1454-copy.jpg

We got ourselves a regular cone. I was browsing through the variety of ice cream flavors and could not get my eyes off when I saw they have Bailey’s flavor!!! I love Bailey’s :) Also chose to mix in 2 ingredients, Macadamia nuts and Oreo Cookies (all were our favourites!) Each mix costed $0.80. A super lovely and nice liquor ice cream mixed with crunchy Oreo’s and Macadamia at $5.50! We never regret the mix in Bailey’s. So lovely to have such a good treat at a windy-chilly night! I missed this the most I would say…still thinking about it now and then. Too bad it’s not available in Malaysia… :’(

There it goes for a full 4 days spent in Surfer’s Paradise. If given a chance, I would wish to stay there!!! The place is just so lovely, clean, and refreshing.

    australia_october_2008_10182008_1467-copy.jpg

We left the hotel and took a bus to the airport, in an unwilling attitude…and a little sad too of course. This is our flight’s lunch that we ordered during ticket booking.

    australia_october_2008_10182008_1471-copy.jpg

Their International meal, chicken with roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables. The sauce from the chicken was spiced with peppers and herbs. It’s also a little sourish that came from the tomato makes it appetizing to go with the potatoes.

Well, here it is a full cover of my Australia Gold Coast’s trip. I will definitely love to visit the place again and hope to explore the place more and find more good food. =)

    Surfer’s Paradise Day 3

    By Cookies Cream | March 27, 2009

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0753-copy.jpg

Ah, it’s the 3rd day in Gold Coast but I’m still treating it as my first day there! Lovely and super clean sandy beach!

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0747-copy.jpg

    Surfer’s view in the morning…

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0760-copy.jpg

Like what Shujin said, we thought we will be able to see some bikini birdies. But we only seen these feather birdies… =P

    img_2779-copy.jpg

    Our breakfast was at HungryJack’s.

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0767-copy.jpg

1 set shares 2..Not because the portion is big. But because we wanna save our tummy for a bigger meal later! :P

Please do pay Hungry Jack’s a visit….because I fell in love with their fries! Seriously, crispy outside soft and tender inside!

    img_2780-copy.jpg

Sushi outlet! Didn’t try it though…

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0803-copy.jpg

We went to Harbour Town for some shopping. Perfumes and some sandals were cheap!

After shopping, we went to a place to makan…recommended by Precious Pea. =)

    img_2797-copy.jpg

    Here we are…at Charis Seafood!

    img_2799-copy.jpg

Just look at how lovely is this place! Seafood in fresh bright red colors! XD

    img_2800-copy.jpg

    Crabbiess~~~

    img_2801-copy.jpg

    img_2804-copy.jpg

    Fresh scallops!

    img_2802-copy.jpg

    img_2803-copy.jpg

    You sea me…me sea you…You prawn me…me prawn you…

    img_2805-copy.jpg

Big pieces of salmon!!! I picked one piece of it for our lunch!

    img_2806-copy.jpg

Nice fishie fishie sleeping soundly. I chose one of them as my lunch too…nyek nyek *evil*!

    img_2810-copy.jpg

I picked 1 of the salads that were available from the order counter.

    img_2812-copy.jpg

Freshly sliced fish meat for sale.

    img_2813-copy.jpg

Freshly sliced sashimi, recommended by Precious Pea. Gosh, it’s so damn nice lo! Shujin and I so so happy..I was like flying when eating it. =)

    img_2816-copy.jpg

Another recommendation by Precious Pea. Freshly fried fish. I love it so much! A few squueze of the lemon wedges to it, definitely tasted more fresh and appetizing! Delish!

    img_2818-copy.jpg

The potato salad was simply irresitable too!

    img_2821-copy.jpg

What a nice place to sit down, relax, and enjoy your food with the windy weather. Loads of birdies were there to wait for their food to be served. Most of the customers there will feed the birdies with their leftover bones from the seafood they ate.

    img_2822-copy.jpg

Such a nice place to start your makan session eh…I really enjoyed it so much cause it was just so damn relaxing!

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0845-copy.jpg

Another photo from Shujin…ahh I love clear blue sky and beach~ :)

    img_2825-copy.jpg

When we reached the place I saw a group of pelicans! Sadly after our meal I went back and pelicans were not seen anymore… :(

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0852-copy.jpg

After our meal we went back to Surfers Paradise. It was already quite late so we didn’t really have any place that we can go…then we did the most stupid decision by going to the “Was Museum”. Ok la..not most stupid but it’s such a waste of money…why??

    img_2830-copy.jpg

Because all of the wax celebrities were lockup up! We can only see them…cannot take photos with them…Oh my sexay Kylie… :’(

    img_2831-copy.jpg

Michael Jackson! *You are not alone…I am here with youuu* hum dee dum… :P

    img_2849-copy.jpg

    Professor!!!

    img_2850-copy.jpg

Whitey Houston with a “Huhh??” expression.

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0862-copy.jpg

    Ooolala..

Some of the photos that were taken which we think they looked interesting~

    img_2856-copy.jpg

    Bunches of tomatoes…sedappp

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0885-copy.jpg

    Aqua Duck ride..

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1447-copy.jpg

    Hard Rock!

Oh yes! I told that I am going to introduce the ice cream that rocks right??? Here it is…Cold Rock!

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0911-copy.jpg

With the concept of choose it, mix it, cash it!

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0912-copy.jpg

We didn’t add mix in though…well we can still have it the next time, which is tomorrow! Here’s a large cup of White Choc, Rum & Raision, and Coffee at $6.80. Their ice cream were smooth and not too sweet, very delish ~! :)

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0924-copy.jpg

While walking, we bumped into a shop that sells beers, liquors and what not. We got ourselves a XXXX Gold and Corona Extra~ I tell you, XXXX Gold was one of the best beer I’ve every had! It has a very nice flowery-scent/soothing aftertaste. Too bad it’s not available in M’sia.

Stay tune for more of Aussie trip~!

    Surfer’s Paradise Day 2

    By Cookies Cream | March 25, 2009

    img_2557-copy.jpg

I’ve been eying on this seafood place since yesterday morning when we were on the way to the hotel. So away a bit too much of walking, we decided to try out at this place. Can you spot Shujin in this photo? I know he must be very hungry already while I’m taking my own sweet time snapping photos of the place. :P

    img_2559-copy.jpg

    Their opening hours…

    img_2560-copy.jpg

This is how inside looked like.

    img_2568-copy.jpg

I ordered their Breakfast Special ($7.95) which sounded so tempting! There’s 2 sunny side up, hashbrown, toast, grilled tomato, and 2 bacons.

    img_2570-copy.jpg

I loved their grilled tomato and hashbrown!

    img_2576-copy.jpg

Look at the bacons (with crispy sides), would you??? Top it on top of the toast + egg yolk..mama mia! =)

    img_2571-copy.jpg

Shujin ordered the Snack Pack No.2, $8.50. There’s fried fish fillets, calamari, crabsitck, with fries. The fish were tasteless and the crabsticks were way too soft. The batter for the food were not so nice. Shujin claimed that the calamari were soft as wel. I guess the only thing that’s ok were the fries.

SERIOUSLY, the portions were way too huge for us! We should have just order 1 instead of 2! @.@ I felt guilty when I left the table with quite alot of leftovers from our plates. :( Those guai lous were so good in eating! The were 2 construction young men that sat beside us. One of them ate 1 BIG meat burger within minutes. After that, he took out a choc bar to munch on. I looked at our plates and felt sad because we were such losers…well maybe I should not think that way. =P

    img_2579-copy.jpg

After the breakfast we went for a walk…and I saw this lovely pink hibiscus. :)

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0307-copy.jpg

Here we are at Currumbin Sanctuary. Entry ticket is at $39 per person.

    img_2621-copy.jpg

The first thing we went to visit was the koala bears!!! Most of them were sleeping soundly. We went inside and saw another batch of koalas! This time, where were 1 big koala mummy with a few babies together and they’re awake!Don’t they just looked lovely!!!

    img_2624-copy.jpg

This is the first time seeing the koalas, most of them were sleeping. Look at how adorable this cutie little baby koala is… :) We decided to take photos with the koala. 2 individual photos and 1 group photo were priced at $39.

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0379-copy.jpg

    Here’s a bigger koala =)

    img_2611-copy.jpg

I’m quite disappointed because can’t meet up with Mr./Ms./Mrs. Tasmanian…

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0472-copy.jpg

Don’t know what bird is this called, something like family of owl? I’m not sure but it looked very unique.

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0486-copy.jpg

Look at this gold possum!!!! Absolutely gorgeous! Hope I can carry it!

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0495-copy.jpg

Chubby little wombat! It’s their feeding time when we visited them~ :)

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0556-copy.jpg

Kangaroos!!! Omigosh, I was so freakin’ scared of them cause they were so tall and huge. But when they start to approach you, they were actually very tame and friendly. They’re so lovely especially when you have food for them. :)

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0594-copy.jpg

I was amazed by this lady. She took up the tong filled of meat and walked into this croc’s house…throw and play with the crocs! Bravo and good job~!

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0644-copy.jpg

On our way out of the kangaroo place, I spotted this kangaroo with a very funny pose…funny right?? I bet it’s having a nice dream…LOL

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0670-copy.jpg

Lorikeet feeding time! Gosh, there were sooo many of them! It’s very fun to see them up close during the feeding session~!

All in all, I had a super great and fun time in Currumbin Sanctuary getting to meet up so many different kinds of animals up close is just so wonderful. =)

It was already evening, by the time we reach Surfers it was getting dark. We were quite tired and don’t know where to eat.

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0695-copy.jpg

So we ended up at a convenient store….

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0727-copy.jpg

And bought these to make dinner. You know why??? Because I simply could not resist those super cheap sausages…7 fresh long sausages at only $2.99!!! Spaghetti, sliced ham, and a can of spaghetti with sauce. I saw the can wrongly…was supposed to buy a can of sauce… ;P

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0733-copy.jpg

Tadaaa, proudly present to you our dinner! Okok, not so proud la… :P I’m happy because it was quite tasty. I saved up the oil that oozed out from the sausages, then toast it with the pasta. Cannot throw the oil away you know cause they’re rich in taste..LOL.

After the dinner, we then went out for a walk outside as there will be a night market going on…

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0714-copy.jpg

Look at the lovely scenery, I just love the moon that night…and all the people..cooling weather…ahh so nice!

    australia_october_2008_10172008_1450-copy.jpg

    Need a ride???

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0708-copy.jpg

It’s cool to see their night market there~ Very different from our night market here I would say as most of them sells potraits, photo frames, and lots of art-y stuffs.

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0699-copy.jpg

Of course, what’s a night market without some snacks?? Me who could not resist seeing such pretty snacks..these muffins were selling 3 for $10! :)

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0702-copy.jpg

Also, fresh and lovely strawberries! $2 for a box…or $5 for 3 boxes! How I wish M’sia have such cheap price for strawberries!! Being a strawberries lover I could not resist but bought 1 box!

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0703-copy.jpg

Here’s something that I have not seen in M’sia. Saw those colorful rainbow-look-alike being wrapped up and hung there? They’re some sort of pressed fruit candy…

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0715-copy.jpg

I found that Aussies love Kebabs too as they’re seen everywhere.

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0716-copy.jpg

    Hungry Jack’s! M’sia’s Burger King…

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0722-copy.jpg

There were also this pizza outlet that sells sliced pizza at quite reasonable price…next to it was Gelato shop!!

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0723-copy.jpg

This Royal Copenhagen Ice Cream outlet is super duper crowded! I’ve passed by this place a couple of times and they’re always surrounded with people. Too bad I did not try it…was only busy looking at their hot chicks pretty workers making those fresh waffles on the spot. I must try it out the next time if I have the chance to visit there again!

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0726-copy.jpg

Vegas…their food was quite cheap eh…

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0734-copy.jpg

Strawberries that I bought from the night market~~! Only $2!!!! @.@

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0735-copy.jpg

Shujin wanted to buy this…because he said he never try it before..

    australia_october_2008_10152008_0738-copy.jpg

Muffins….far from left as Peanut Butter, Cookies n Cream, and Chocolate Heaven. They were all not bad, the muffin is quite doughy though. I love the peanut butter as they have chopped nuts in it.

    australia_october_2008_10162008_0766-copy.jpg

Chips here is super cheap too!!! Super big packets, 2 for $5.99. @.@

That’s all for second day of the trip~

Stay tune for Day 3 of Aussie trip~!

    Surfer’s Paradise Day 1

    By Cookies Cream | March 16, 2009

    img_2367-copy.jpg

This is a very old trip…about 5 months ago. Suddenly have the urge to post this up..wanted to share with all of you guys. I was having some dilemma + depression to write about this trip! Cause I missed this trip too much..sob sob! =(

Ok so I went to Gold Coast with Shujin back on October 2008, I was extremely excited about the trip as this was the first time I’m going off to a western country and also it’s Spring that time! I was with Air Asia X. Not sure if we got an older plane, which is why the space were much more spacious than the one my friend took when he’s coming back to M’sia. He claimed that he was having horrible ride because the seats were small and cramp. The one that I took was good and nice and I can stretch my legs comfortably.

    img_2372-copy.jpg

I ordered a meal when I purchase the flight ticket. Nasi Lemak + a bottle of mineral water.

    img_2383-copy.jpg

Cutie mini container filled with roasted peanuts and anchovies.

    img_2387-copy.jpg

The nasi lemak looked quite appetizing. One can’t really aspect too much for packed meals, right? The nasi lemak were accompanied by hard boiled eggs, sambal, sambal sotong, cucmbers, fried chicken, and rendang chicken.

    img_2392-copy.jpg

Up close of the rendang chicken, I assumed it was rendang chicken. The taste was quite ok, though not very rich in spice/herbs.

    img_2388-copy.jpg

This fried chicken was a little different from the normal Malay fried chicken. It some how tasted a little like Indian style fried chicken to me. Overall, the meal was quite good for me…maybe because I was on a good mood and I was feasting it during the wee hours? :P

I didn’t really sleep during the 10 hours of journey…but Shujin was sleeping soundly throughout the flight. He seated with a “The Rock Musculine-look-a-like” guai lou. XD While I seated with a Chinese lady.

Here’s some photos to share, I was totally amused with the scenery up during the flight. It felt like you’re in another planet…with the serenenity and peaceful sky. Especially during midnight, the colors of the sky and stars were DAMN PRETTY and AWESOME!

    australia_october_2008_10142008_0001-copy.jpg

    img_2395-copy.jpg

    img_2406-copy.jpg

    australia_october_2008_10142008_0021-copy.jpg

After long hours of flight, we finally saw the Aussie land!

    australia_october_2008_10142008_0047-copy.jpg

The first breath of air when we went out of the plane was totally refreshing! We were greeted by the Aussie cool wind! “I totally can’t wait to rock my world here in Aussie for the next 5 days”, I mumbled to myself. :P

We went to purchase shuttle bus tickets and waited for our turn in the bus (ok, I was acting like a “Dai Lok mui” in the bus…”wee/wah-ing” on the places we passed during our ride) to reach the hotel that Shujin booked. We can only check in on the afternoon…so we passed our luggages to the hotel receptionist to take care of it.

Outside of the Mantra Legends Hotel was this —>

    australia_october_2008_10142008_0051-copy.jpg

Yup, we saw this “Kuala Lumpur Seafood Restaurant”! LOL….

    australia_october_2008_10142008_0052-copy.jpg

There’s quite a number of clubs nearby the hotel. Toy Box Showgirls…gentelmen’s club…I wonder what does that means. Cannot be gentlewomen’s club meh??

    img_2437-copy.jpg

Along the way, we saw this and decided to have our breakfast there.

    australia_october_2008_10142008_0054-copy.jpg

    Pancakes in Paradise!

    img_2408.jpg

Look at this gigantic waxed pancakes, it’s placed on the road side to allure customers with their “All you can eat Pancakes” promotion!

    img_2416-copy.jpg

The environment inside was colorful, which made me feels happy. =)

    img_2419-copy.jpg

I had their pancakes with a dollop of Vanilla Ice Cream, $8.95.

    img_2423-copy.jpg

    Added Maple syrup!!!

    img_2422-copy.jpg

Shujin had their waffle with butter, $7.50.

    img_2426.jpg

    Shujin ordered Mocha at $4.40…

After the meal, we went to the bus stop just outside of the shop to get a bus ride to the train station.

    img_2439-copy.jpg

I saw this when the bus stopped for the traffic light. It’s one huge ice cream stall, Cold Rock! There’s this long row that placed with different varities of ingredients. Their concept was called “Choose It, Mix It, Cash It!”, intended for you to choose your ice cream flavor, choose any ingredients to mix into your ice cream. I was very excited about it…will explain this in detail on my next post about their ice cream. :)

We reached the train station, bought our tickets and headed to Brisbane to meet our college friend there.

    australia_october_2008_10142008_0072-copy.jpg

Brisbane was quite happening eh? Their bus powered by Natural Gas. I wished Malaysia have this…

    img_2461-copy.jpg

This guy painted all his work with color sprays. There’s a collection placed there that he did himself for sell…pretty awesome I would say.

    img_2462-copy.jpg

Aussie’s Burger King, named as Hungry Jack’s.

    img_2475-copy.jpg

Our friend brought us to one of this place for Korean food. She said it’s value for money.

    img_2479-copy.jpg

The restaurants inside this “lorong”. Before these restaurants, there were rows of boutiques that sell quite nice clothes too.

    img_2480-copy.jpg

We settled down at Madtong San Korean Restaurant, which is opposite a Japanese Restaurant. This restaurant is ran by a few young Koreans.

    img_2482-copy.jpg

Kimchi that came with some of the meal.

    img_2485-copy.jpg

I ordered this fried noodle. I thought it was the famous Korean Tteokbokk. But it turned out they fried it with Ramen. It tasted quite ok at first, but then it got sweeter and sweeter after that. Also, the rice cakes were too chewy for my liking.

    img_2490-copy.jpg

Shujin ordered the Kimchi soup. The soup was a bit too powdery. It’s quite spicy, and sourish. I still reckons KL’s Korean food better than this.

After the lunch, my friend brought us for a walk. Then Shujin met up with one of her friend who stays there too. My friend asked if I mind to accompany her to her university for a while as she needs to print out something, I nodded with a yes and can’t wait to visit the QUT!

    img_2502.jpg

After a round of visit at her university, we walked into the garden which was awesome!!! Look at how cool is this, sitting down during Spring time reading on books with a cuppa…just oh-so-lovely!

    img_2505-copy.jpg

This is the scenery outside of the garden. So nice to just sit down and enjoy the view.

    img_2511-copy.jpg

This building is just outside my friend’s University. Looked so nice…

After the walk in my friend’s university, we met back Shujin at Queen Street. My friend was soo excited to bring us to 2 places to buy something to munch on…her favourite snacks there.. :P

    img_2513-copy.jpg

    Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!!!

    img_2514-copy.jpg

Yes, the queue is longgg…..(For those who are just so lazy to queue up, they do provide delivery service)

    img_2516-copy.jpg

While queuing up…I found this picture very interesting… LOL! Don’t you guys just agree??? The way he hold the doughnut is soo freakin’ funny! =P

After the doughnut buying, we headed up to one of the tea…also my friend’s all time favourite Easy Way.

    img_2518-copy.jpg

Easy Way, hmm..the name do sounds familiar. There is an outlet opened in KL many years ago but it’s closed down, if I’m not mistaken. Oh, I think there’s one at the Little Taiwan Restaurant at Mid Valley (near the GSC cinema).

    img_2520-copy.jpg

We ordered a large cup of Taro Pearl Milk Tea ($4.70), one of my friend’s favourite flavor. I gotta say that I’m wow-ed by the richness of the flavor in this cup of pearl tea! This taste is so not gonna get it from KL…it’s very “yam-my” indeed. Loved it so much! :)

Some lovely photos of the places in Brisbane…

    The Riverside.

We stopped and got down at Riverside. Had a walk and took some photos before heading down to the train station and say goodbye to my dear friend. :)

Was super tired for the 1st day, from the moment we touched down at Aussie land…until night around 11+. We finally reached hotel..and checked in…looking dead tired. But but but!!! We were soo excited and happy the moment Shujin opened the room door…what greeted us was a pleasant surprise!

Here’s a small intro of the room Shujin booked at Mantra Legends Hotel.

There’s also a box arranged with colorful packets of tea bags, coffee, and sugar.

Me and Shujin super love this!!! Electronic dish washer machine~~~!!! I’ve never seen this before. Call me “sua gu/sampa poh..whatever!”. I was just so excited and can’t wait to use it. Muahahahaha…

New Zealand Natural Workshop@The Cooking House

    By Cookies Cream | March 11, 2009

    np3n1306-copy.jpg

This is an old post. I got an sms from David one day, invited me over to a cooking workshop. Apparently his gf was working in New Zealand Natural (NZN). I told him to book place for me and Shujin. I simply couldn’t resist this workshop especially when it’s something related to desserts!

I was so excited about it as this is the first time I’ve ever attended for a workshop! Yipppee yayzz~! I was so happy when I see the floggers there too!

Floggers who were there -> (Simon, WMW, PreciousPea, Teckiee, HaveYourCake&EatItToo, and BabeinCity).

The pastry chef for the day was Chef T.L Lee. He was a very humorous and funny man who do not mind teaching you the steps when you went into the wrong method of baking. We learnt 4 types of ice cream dessert during the workshop. :)

    np3n1263-copy1.jpg

The first recipe of the workshop day was on how to bake Chocolate Chiffon Cake. It was interesting as you can see like what most of the food channel shows on television. I was busy concentrating on what Chef Lee is teaching and baking (jotting down some notes too) while Shujin was busy shooting during the whole workshop.

    np3n1289-copy1.jpg np3n1298-copy.jpg

Next recipe that Chef Lee taught all of us in the process of making desserts with NZN was Soft Butterscoth Cookies. Taught by Chef Lee that the butter must be harder if you want to bake good cookies. Chef Lee added a dash of milk into the mixture as it was a little too dry to form a dough.

He then roll the dough into a long form and cuts it using a spatula before rolling and forming them into circle cookie doughs.

    np3n1301-copy.jpg

Look at how famous is Chef Lee with photographers taking shots of him during the baking session. =)

    np3n1308-copy.jpg

The end product of Chocolate Chiffon Cake.

    np3n1425-copy.jpg

After watching Chef Lee teaching us on how to bake those 2 ingredients for the dessert, the audiences (we) were divided into group of 5 ppl to bake them! I was in a group with another 3 ppl whom I have never meet before.

The baking session was a hell lot of fun! I’m happy to meet up with new ppl and to bake with them. Two of them were actually David’s NuffNang friends, Joshua and WaiYatMien. Another girl (Irene?) was from Sisters Magazine. Didn’t get the chance to really know her as she left the team (us) during the baking session! :(

    np3n1456-copy.jpg

The batch of cookies in the process of baking in the oven!

    np3n1457-copy.jpg

Chocolate chiffon cake mixture in the oven, I was waiting for it to be ready!

    np3n1455-copy.jpg

The end result of the butterscotch cookies from my team!

    np3n1473-copy.jpgnp3n1481-copy.jpg

After the baking session which we got part of our ingredients (Chocolate Chiffon Cake & Soft Butterscotch Cookies) done, we moved on to Part II…which is making the exciting ice cream desserts! You will need to layer with cookies and ice cream into those metal rings.

    np3n1485-copy.jpgnp3n1490-copy.jpg

After Chef Lee done with making Mango Heaven and Walnut Butterscotch Surprise, we then moved on with making Ice Cream Tiramisu. You will need to trim those sponge fingers in order to perfectly fit into the square metal.

    np3n1492-copy.jpgnp3n1496-copy.jpg

After trimming and arranged those sponge fingers into the square meta, Chef Lee trimmed the Chocolate Sponge Cake as well.

    np3n1497-copy.jpgnp3n1499-copy.jpg

The Chocolate Sponge Cake will be placed at the bottom of this dessert as a base. Chef Lee showed us how the base of sponge cake with chocolate sponge cake looked like.

    np3n1500-copy.jpgnp3n1501-copy.jpg

Chef Lee trying to defrost the NZN Cafe Espresso ice cream a little by using the heat from his hand.

    np3n1504-copy.jpgnp3n1513-copy.jpg
After topping the softened Cafe Espresso on top of the Chocolate Chiffon Cake layer, the next layer of NZN Hokey Pokey is next.

    np3n1523-copy.jpgnp3n1526-copy.jpg

Chef Lee finished off making the Ice Cream Tiramisu.

    np3n1531-copy.jpgnp3n1533-copy.jpg

The last dessert making is Black Forest. Chef Lee took out a big (1KG!) block of NZN Boysenberry ice cream with a Oreo Cookie based.

    np3n1536-copy.jpgnp3n1542-copy.jpg

The ice cream is then spread with whipping cream. Look at Chef’s Lee expression…doesn’t these 2 photos looked farny??? =P

    np3n1550-copy.jpgnp3n1558-copy.jpg

After scrapping off the excess of the whipping cream, it is decoration time for the ice cream cake!

    np3n1568-copy.jpgnp3n1575-copy.jpg

How can you have Black Forest without berries and chocolates?? Here’s photos of Chef Lee concentrating on the ice cream cake decoration with chocolate pieces and chocolate shaped into cigarettes..oh not to forget berries!

So, we’re finished with the baking and making session…we shall move on with tasting session!

    np3n1617-copy.jpg

The end result of the dessert, Mango Heaven. It was beautifully decorated with chocolate cigarettes, strawberry, and a dash of whipping cream. Both ice cream Mango Sorbet and Mango Passion were layered with Japonaise.

    np3n1622-copy.jpg

Another great dessert by Chef Lee, Walnut Butterscotch Surprise. It was truly nice to see Chef Lee decorating the desserts. :)

    np3n1626-copy.jpg

On the left: The Walnut Butterscotch Surprise was made with an chocolate coated soft Amaretti biscuit inserted in the middle. The NZN Walnut Butterscotch tasted buttery and aromatic.

On the right: Mango Heaven was very nice. It gives you the exciting, fun-kicking flavors from both the Mango Sorbet and Mango Passion. Tasted sourish and sweet…definitely a refreshing dessert. What’s more is that the Mango Passion is 97% fat free and Mango Sorbet is 99% fat free!

    np3n1601-copy.jpg

Don’t you think the Ice Cream Tiramisu looked absolutely charming?? Decorated with whipping cream and chocolate shavings, I find it oh-so-lovely!

    np3n1647-copy.jpg

Don’t you feel like having a spoonful of the Ice Cream Tiramisu??? The Cafe Espresso gave a light bitterness taste while the Hokey Pokey is sweet.

    np3n1635-copy.jpg

This is a favorite of mine, the Black Forest was amazing! Despite lots of whipping cream, the Boysenberry ice cream was awesome combining with the Oreo base which was crunchy. The flavor was not very sourish, not too sweet..add a little of the whipping cream before eating to give you a creamy taste of boyesenberry~

All in all, I had a blast throughout this workshop. Had fun in the workshop..meeting new people, getting to bake, and also to taste the desserts~! You can find recipes below.

    Mango Heaven Recipe :

    1) Layer 1 Japonaise disc at the bottom of a round metal ring.

    2) Layer 70 g of New Zealand Natural’s Mango Passion.

    3) After the Mango Passion, layer again a Japonaise disc on top.

    4) Lastly, layer 25g New Zealand Natural’s Mango Sorbet on top of the Japonaise disc.

    Walnut Butterscotch Surprise Recipe:

    1) Layer 1 Japonaise disc at the bottom of a round metal ring.

    2) After the Japonaise, layer 30 g of New Zealand Natural’s Walnut Butterscotch.

    3) Then insert Chocolate coated soft Amaretti biscuit (quarter of biscuit will do) in the middle of the ring.

    4) Lastly, layer 50-60g of New Zealand Natural’s Walnut Butterscotch.

    Ice Cream Tiramisu Recipe:

    1) Dissolve 6tsp of instant coffee in 3tbs hot water, then add in 3tbs cold water.

    2) Trim about 18 pieces of Saviordi sponge fingers to about 3 1/4 inches length.

    3) Line the sides of a 6″ x 6″ tin (with a removable base) with the longer pieces of sponge fingers (as shown in the photo above), cut side down. Place a chocolate chiffon cake of about 1/4 inch high (trimmed to the right size) at the bottom, surrounded by the sponge fingers.

    4) Press a layer of softened New Zealand Natural’s Cafe Espresso (200g) on top of the chiffon.

    5) Dip the smaller pieces of the cut sponge fingers in the coffee mixture (dip once for each of the two wider surfaces), place onto the Cafe Espresso layer. If the Cafe Espresso is melting, place the tin into the freezer to firm up the ice cream.

    6) Top with the softened New Zealand Natural’s Hokey Pokey (300g) and level the surface.

    Black Forest Recipe:

Tin of 9 inch round with removable base

    1) Layer a chocolate chiffon cake as a base (Chef Lee used Oreo base during the workshop).

    2) Top New Zealand Natural’s Boysenberry (1KG) on top of the chiffon.

    3) Repeat 1) and 2) again for one time.

    4) Spread on top (and sides if preferred) of cake with whipping topping.

    5) Top with chocolate curls or chocolate cigarettes and dark pitted cherries (You may see the photo shown above).
