    Venezia Italian Restaurant,Taman Segar

    By Cookies Cream | December 13, 2007

    venezia.jpg

Venezia, an Italian restaurant that is very near my house and I’ve been longing to try it out. Taman Segar is actually at Cheras Leisure Mall. Finally I’ve been able to try out…but the “trial session” in this restaurant had been a “long time” ago.

    ice_lemon_tea.jpg

As usual we’ll surely have this Iced Lemon Tea (RM3.80) whenever Shujin sees it in the menu. LOL. This particular drink is not like the ones usually served from most restaurants (from those packet-powder Nestle Iced Lemon Tea). It’s something more like “lemon + assam + tea + don’t know apa”. It’s rather different from normal Iced Lemon Tea that tastes like…Iced Lemon Tea??? :P

    italian_soda.jpg

Their Italian Soda (RM5.90) sounded special, so one of my friend ordered it. It tasted like some grape/berry liquid with gas in it. After all, it’s not as special as it sounds to me.

    venezia_pizza.jpg

This is their signature “Venezia Pizza” and it’s priced at RM25.50. I think if I’m not mistaken it wrote “Specialita Della Casa” on the menu for this pizza, and don’t ask me what’s the meaning of it cause I don’t know. It says that it’s their specialty there…I guess??? :P

    venezia_pizza1.jpg

This is another view of the “Venezia Pizza”. It’s a thin crust that’s decorated with lots of goodies such as prawns, diced hams, mushrooms, and lots cheese! The crust wasn’t really crispy, but the prawn was indeed very flavorful. Oh, and they even put roasted chicken meat on the pizza.

    linguine_marinara.jpg

This is Venezia’s Seafood Marinara with Garlic Linguine (RM18.90). The word “Marinara” is always like a stranger to me, as sometimes I know them as a seafood pasta served on tomato sauce and sometimes I would know them as a seafood pasta but it’s without the tomatoes. So, this one’s here is a seafood pasta without any tomato puree or tomato sauce. It’s something like Aglio Olio I think. Or, did they served us something else instead of “Marinara = tomato sauce”?

I really don’t know about this. Well, tastes wise it has lots of sweetness that came from the seafood family (calamari, clams, mussels, prawns).

    risotto_al_funghi1.jpg

This is the first time I’m having Risotto. Their Risotto, Al Funghi (RM12.50) is basically Risotto cooked with mushrooms. I don’t know if normal Risotto tastes like or not but mine is very aromatic and it has just enough of saltiness. It is also creamy but not too creamy, just nice. Seriously, I love their Risotto.

    spaghetti_carbonara1.jpg

Next up is their Spaghetti Carbonara (RM16.50). Ok ok ok, I know exactly what you want to say after looking at this photo of Carbonara. I too had the same impression as you guys when they served us with it. To be honest, it does not look appealing/appetizing/interesting/attracting at all to me. BUT it’s rather surprising to me that it does taste quite good~! It’s quite creamy and aromatic, though it’s not the best Carbonara I had. It’s served with slices of hams *bacon pieces would be better* , therefore it’s kinda like a lighter version.

Ok, dessert time! Since we have 5 adults and a baby, we decided ordered 3 desserts and make a sharing.

    tiramisu.jpg

It’s quite cute to see this Tiramisu (RM9.50) being placed on a cup like this. Well, nothing much about it. It’s average in taste and texture. Oh, the cream is very fresh though. :)

    apple_pie.jpg

This is their handmade Apple Pie (RM8.50). The real apple pieces were quite sour. The side of the crust was very crispy. Overall, it’s quite nice to be eaten with the vanilla ice cream.

    brownie_icecream.jpg

Finally, we wrapped up with the Moist Chocolate Cake (RM7.80). Sorry that the photo is taken with the half melted vanilla ice cream. It’s kinda nice that the texture of the cake was soft and yet spongy. But, as always when you have the chocolate cake with the chocolate syrup + vanilla ice cream, it can get a little too sweet. In the end, I really wish to have a cup of green tea.

I wasn’t sure why I did this, but if you search “Venezia Italian Restaurant” in Google Search, you could actually find a number of restaurants of the same name in Florida, California, Boston, etc.
